Lincoln’s quarterback from 1986-89, Steve Bohlken broke nearly every program passing record, including finishing with 4,709 career passing yards. Bohlken compiled 4,926 yards of total offense during his four-year career and set records with 372 completions in 904 attempts. In 1988, Bohlken set new single-season standards with 144 completions for 1,939 yards as well as 2,194 yards of total offense. Bohlken was the 1988 MIAA Offensive Player of the Year and a two-time player of the week honoree.

In addition to becoming one of the statistically best quarterbacks in Blue Tiger history, Bohlken was also an outstanding punter. His 49.9-yard single game average remains a Lincoln record, and his 76-yard punt in 1987 is still the longest in program history. In 1986, 1988 and 1989, Bohlken was named to the All-MIAA first team as a punter.
