Homer Cavitte III

A stellar three-sport athlete, Homer Cavitte III earned 10 varsity letters during his four years at Lincoln. As a defensive back, Cavitte helped the Blue Tiger football team win 15 games, including posting a 7-2 record in 1966. Cavitte later went on to spend time in training camps with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings before playing professionally in the Continental and Canadian Football Leagues. As a basketball player from 1965-69, Cavitte helped LU win 77 games and was a member of the 1966-67 squad which finished the regular season ranked No. 3 in the country.

Cavitte averaged 7.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 1967-68 and 10.9 points and 8.5 rebounds as a senior in 1968-69. Cavitte was also a three-year member of the LU track & field team and was listed in the 1968 edition of Outstanding College Athletes in America. Following his playing career, Cavitte returned to Lincoln as an assistant football coach and helped lead the Blue Tigers to an MIAA championship in 1972.
