A four-year letter winner with the Blue Tigers (1964-67), James Sullivan led the Blue Tigers to 24 victories as a defensive tackle. A two-time All-MWAA honoree, Sullivan helped Lincoln defeat St. Mary's of Kansas, 74-0, and Missouri-Rolla (now S&T), 73-0, in 1964 for the two most lopsided victories in LU history. The Blue Tigers never had a losing season while Sullivan was on the team and, in 1964, finished as the Pittsburgh Courier's No. 5 team in the nation. Another Lincoln football star who went on to play professionally, Sullivan spent time with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (1970), the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (1972) and the Philadelphia Bells of the World Football League (1974).
