Jim Tharpe capped off a successful four-year career with the Blue Tigers by being drafted in the 15th round by the Cleveland Browns in 1970. A starting linebacker from 1966-69, Tharpe helped LU win 23 games, including leading LU to an 8-2 record in 1968. An All-American in 1969, Tharpe made over 300 tackles during his career, and was voted as the team's defensive player of the year three seasons in a row.
