A two-time All-MWAA lineman, Richard D. Carr was a four-year starter at right tackle from 1961-64. During his senior season, Carr led the Blue Tigers to an 8-2 record and a No. 5 national ranking according to the Pittsburgh Courier. That capped off a four-year career in which the Blue Tigers enjoyed two winning seasons and won 21 games. When legendary Hall of Fame head coach Dwight T. Reed retired, he named Carr on his list of the greatest players he had ever coached. Carr, who received an invitation to try out for the Denver Broncos following his athletic career, was also an excellent student at Lincoln, earning multiple academic awards and a membership to LU's Scientific Society.
