For four years from 1958-61, Dr. Irene Bell Outlaw was an unmistakable presence on the sidelines of Lincoln football and basketball games. An animated person who loved cheering and took it seriously, Outlaw used her loud, deep voice to help keep school spirit high regardless of the weather or the results of the contest. Outlaw earned her nickname, "Yummy Yummy," after creating a cheer that was so popular with the men's basketball team that they demanded she lead it at every game. Outlaw was so committed to encouraging Lincoln fans to be loud and proud that she would famously single out students in the crowd to get them to open their mouths.

In addition to her cheerleading, Outlaw also played volleyball and was on the gymnastics team at Lincoln and was a member of the Varsity Letterman's Club. After graduating in 1962, Outlaw earned master's and doctorate degrees and taught in seven different cities, serving as a teacher,  coach, math & science director, vice principal and principal.
