One of the best special teams players in the history of Lincoln football, Boyce A. Smith helped Lincoln win 25 games in his four-year career from 1963-66. As a sophomore, Smith compiled a season punting average of 43.1 yards, a school single season record that still stands to this day. That was the sixth-best average in the nation in 1964. An excellent player all-around, Smith also played both offense and defense for the Blue Tigers, earning All-MWAA honors as a defensive end in both 1965 and 1966. In 1965, he was Lincoln's leading receiver. Following his LU career, Smith was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
