What is SAAC?
Â
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a committee made of student-athletes that provide insight as what it is to be a student-athlete. The committee also provides input on the rules and regulations that affect student-athletes.
Â
How did SAAC get started?
Â
An Association-wide SAAC was adopted at the 1989 NCAA Convention primarily formed to review and offer student-athlete input on NCAA activities and proposed legislation that affected student-athlete welfare. In 1997, the NCAA federated along divisional lines and expanded SAAC to represent the three divisions in NCAA.
Â
What is the purpose of SAAC?
Â
The purpose of SAAC varies across conferences and institutions but should reflect the primary purposes which are:
·        Generate a voice for the student-athletes within the institution
·        Suggest potential NCAA legislation
·        Organize, promote and participate in community service efforts
·        Provide a means for student-athlete representation on campus
