Jack Bush, Sr., graduated from Lincoln University with his Bachelor of Science in 1949. He was a member of the track team from 1946-1949 and collected the title of Midwest Champion in the javelin throw. Bush was a member of the football team from 1946-1949. After his time at Lincoln, Bush had a successful basketball coaching career that included receiving the National High School Gold Coach Award from Scholastic Coach Magazine in 1988. In 1999, Bush was selected as Coach of the Year by the Kansas City Star. McDonald’s selected him to coach the McDonald’s All-American Basketball Team as well. Bush was named Coach of the Year 15 times, and was the winner of the Eddie Ryan Award as the Best Basketball Coach in Kansas City five times.
