Clarence Gant

A three-year member of the Lincoln men's basketball team, Clarence Gant finished with a career average of 17.1 points per game and led LU to the 1972 MIAA championship. From 1970-73, Gant led the Blue Tigers to 47 victories, highlighted by a 22-6 overall record and an 11-1 mark in league play in 1971-72. Gant earned All-MIAA second team honors following a 1972-73 season highlighted by a 19-7 overall record. Gant was additionally selected to the MIAA All-Tournament team that season. Gant's 17.1 scoring average ranks as the eighth-best in program history, and, with 1,058 career points, Gant is one of just 22 LU players to reach the 1,000-point mark. After graduating from Lincoln in 1973, Gant went on to coach basketball and track & field at Central High School in Kansas City, where he helped lead the program to 30 total league championships.
