Blue Tigers Smash 4x400m Record, Finish in Second Place

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team obliterated the league record in the 4x400m relay en route to finishing in second place at the 2025 GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by Lewis University on Friday and Saturday (May 2-3). The Blue Tigers won six events and scored 129 points.

The 4x400m relay team of Britney Brown, Shantae George, Abigail Brooks and Odeshia Nanton won by more than six seconds, posting a time of 3:41.43 compared to Southwest Baptist's runner-up time of 3:47.49. Lincoln's victorious time smashed the GLVC record of 3:43.32, set by Lewis in 2021.

Lincoln also won the 4x100m relay, with the foursome of George, Denita Jackson, Aaliyannah Anderson and Shevanae Thomas clocking in at 45.12. George additionally won the 100m dash, timing in at 11.43, and Anderson claimed fourth in 11.86. Anderson also had an individual victory, as she won the 100m hurdles in 13.57. Ava Amey took sixth in the 100m hurdles, posting a time of 14.75.

The Blue Tigers swept the top-two of the 400m hurdles, with Nanton (59.98) taking first and Thomas (1:00.48) coming in second, and the 800m, as Shaneal Clarke Giddings (2:10.33) won while Brown (2:13.01) was the runner-up. Lincoln's other victory came in the triple jump, where Brittania Ingram turned in the event's longest distance of 12.10m. Ingram also turned in a ninth-place showing in the long jump with a leap of 5.48m.

Nehlia Mills (1.57m) and Nanton (1.47m) respectively came in third and ninth in the high jump to close out LU's performance in the field events. In the 400m dash, Thomas (53.41) claimed second, Brooks (56.24) finished in fourth and Nanton (56.43) took fifth. Meanwhile, in the 200m dash, George (23.27) was the runner-up, Anderson (24.44) placed sixth and Jackson (24.73) rounded out the top-eight. Hannah Fatade rounded out the Blue Tigers on the track by taking ninth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:06.56.

The Blue Tigers will now wait to see how many entries they will have in the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held in Pueblo, Colo. on May 22-24.
