INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Thursday (May 1) that Lincoln sprinter
Shantae George was named the GLVC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
George won four events at the Rock Chalk Classic on Saturday (April 26), including the 4x400m relay, where she teamed with
Abigail Brooks,
Britney Brown and
Shaneal Clarke Giddings to post the fastest time of 3:37.88. That time, a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division II championships, leads the GLVC and ranks third in the country. Individually, George won the 100m in 11.60 and was the champion of the 200m after timing in at 24.07. She also teamed with
Denita Jackson,
Aaliyannah Anderson and
Shevanae Thomas to win the 4x100m relay in 46.29.Â
This is the first GLVC Athlete of the Week award for George as well as her second career weekly award, as she was selected as the MIAA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Dec. 12, 2023.
The Lincoln women's track & field team will next compete in the GLVCÂ Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held in Romeoville, Ill. on May 1-3.
