Final Results
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Despite competing in a consistent rainfall and 50 degree weather, the Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team won seven events at the Lincoln Open, hosted by the Blue Tigers on Saturday (April 5).
Lincoln was particularly dominant in the 200m, as Blue Tigers claimed each of the race's top six results.
Shevanae Thomas won in 26.05,
Denita Jackson came in second with a time of 26.32, and
Namibia Clavier claimed third after clocking in at 26.63.
Monae Carey (26.87) finished in fourth,
Ellis Cohen (28.23) came in fifth and
Abigail Brooks (28.37) checked in at sixth.
The foursome of
Aaliyannah Anderson, Jackson,
Shantae George and Carey began the meet by winning the 4x100m relay in 47.45. Anderson (14.93) was the runner-up of the 100m hurdles and
Deschanique Douglas (1:05.15) won the 400m hurdles. Hannah Fatade, meanwhile, was the champion of the 300m, timing in at 11:19.99, and also placed third in the 800m, clocking in at 2:28.11.
In the 1500m,
Shaneal Clarke Giddings won with a time of 4:51.03 while Fatade placed seventh in 5:06.03. George won the 100m dash, posting a time of 12.50, and Carey (12.72) was the runner-up while Jackson (12.93) took fourth.Â
Lincoln's other victory came in the high jump, as
Nehlia Mills had the winning mark of 1.65m. Cohen tied for second with a height of 1.50m.
Shamar-Kay Fable (4.69m) and
Brittania Ingram (3.03m) respectively placed fifth and 10th in the long jump.
Zoria Shields closed out LU's performance by taking seventh in the shot put (9.23m).
Next Friday and Saturday (April 11-12), Lincoln will be in Wichita, Kan. to compete in the KT Woodman Classic, hosted by Wichita State University.
