LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team won five events at the Rock Chalk Classic on Saturday (April 27). The meet, hosted by the University of Kansas, was the final one of the regular season for the Blue Tigers.
Shantae George had a hand in four of those wins, as she took first in both the 100m dash (11.60) and the 200m (24.07). In the latter event,
Denita Jackson took 10th with a time of 25.54. Both Jackson and George teamed with
Aaliyannah Anderson and
Shevanae Thomas won the 4x100m relay in 46.29. George also joined with
Abigail Brooks,
Britney Brown and
Shaneal Clarke Giddings to win the 4x400m relay in 3:37.88.
Hannah Fatade had LU's other victory, as she posted the fastest time of 12:10.27 in the 3000m steeplechase.
Odeshia Nanton was the runner-up in the 400m hurdles, clocking in at 1:00.94, and Anderson placed second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.10. Also representing the Blue Tigers in the top-10 of the 100m hurdles was
Ava Amey, who claimed ninth with a time of 15.40.
Fatade took fourth in the 800m, timing in at 2:25.52, and Brooks placed eighth in the 400m dash, posting a time of 56.95. In the high jump,
Nehlia Mills (1.63m) claimed third and
Ellis Cohen (1.48m) placed seventh.
Lincoln will next compete in the GLVCÂ Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held in Romeoville, Ill. on May 1-3.
