INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Lincoln women's track & field broke three league records and won four events en route to a second-place finish at the GLVCÂ Indoor Championships, held on Saturday and Sunday (March 1-2). The Blue Tigers scored 113 total points.
Shevanae Thomas broke the GLVC record in the 400m, winning in 25.13 while four other Blue Tigers finished among the top-eight.
Odeshia Nanton (26.92) and
Abigail Brooks (27.26) respectively placed second and third while
Maria Diamond (56.68) came in fifth and
Namibia Clavier (58.73) checked in at eighth.
The 4x400m relay team of
Shaneal Clarke Giddings, Thomas, Diamond and
Shantae George broke the GLVC record with its winning time of 3:41.76. George, meanwhile, broke the record in the 60m dash by winning in 7.39. Aaliyhannah Anderson took seventh in 7.63. Clarke Giddings had LU's other win, taking first in the 800m in 2:15.64 while Diamond finished third in 2:16.61.
Anderson (8.92) was the runner-up in the 60m hurdles,
Nehlia Mills (1.62m) took second in the high jump and
Brittania Ingram finished second in the triple jump (11.51m) and third in the long jump (5.57m). Thomas (24.47) and George (24.66) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 200m. Meanwhile, the team of Diamond, Clarke Giddings, Brooks and Hannah Fatade claimed fourth in 12:19.75.
Lincoln will now wait to see how many entries it will have in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held in Indianapolis, Ind. on March 13-15.
