Bearcat Invite Results | Jim Green Invitational Results
MARYVILLE, Mo. & JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Competing in two meets this weekend, the Lincoln women's indoor track & field team won three events and set a meet record. Half of the Blue Tigers competed at the Bearcat Invite, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 7-8). The other half competed in the Jim Green Invitational, hosted by Illinois College on Saturday (Feb. 8).
At the Bearcat Invite,
Shantae George won the invite-only 200m with a time of 24:37 while
Shevanae Thomas finished fifth in 24.73. Thomas also placed third in the invite-only 400m, timing in at 54.99. George, meanwhile, broke the meet record in the 60m dash with her winning time of 7.40.
In the open 400m,
Abigail Brooks (57.72) placed third and
Namibia Clavier (58.40) came in sixth. In the 800m,
Shaneal Clarke Giddings clocked in at 2:11.25 to take third and
Maria Diamond posted a time of 2:12.78 to finish in fifth. Meanwhile, in the distance medley, the foursome of Diamond, Thomas, Clarke Giddings and Hannah Fatade combined to take fifth place with a time of 12:17.45.
Denita Jackson rounded out LU's top-10 performances at the Bearcat Invite by timing in at 25.78 to place seventh in the open 200m.
Lincoln's other win of the weekend came at the Jim Green Invitational, as
Ava Amey claimed first place in the 60m hurdles after posting a time of 9.22.
Deschanique Douglas took fifth in that event, clocking in at 9.53, and also placed third in the 400m with a time of 1:01.59.Â
Nehliam Mills was the runner-up of the high jump (1.65m) and came in third in the triple jump (10.17m).
Nattesha Palmer placed fifth in the 200m, timing in at 26.88. LU also had two top-six finishes in the 60m dash, as
Monae Carey was the runner-up (7.96) and Amey checked in at sixth (8.14).
Lincoln will close out the regular season at the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 14-15).
