Lincoln Wins Four Events at Season-Opening Meet

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team had a successful start to its 2024-25 season, notching four wins at the Bob Timmons Challenge, hosted by the University of Kansas on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 6-7).

Shantae George was victorious in the 60m dash, posting the fastest time of 7.51, while Aaliyannah Anderson (7.79) and Mattie Brown (7.95) respectively came in fourth and 10th. George was also the champion of the 200m with a time of 24.85. The Blue Tigers dominated that latter event, with Shevanae Thomas (25.14) taking third; Denita Jackson (25.60) placing fifth; and Nattesha Palmer (26.81), Mattie Brown (26.88), Ellis Cohen (27.14) and Abigail Brooks (27.16) sweeping places ninth through 12th.

The team of Deschanique Douglas, Britney Brown, Brooks and Jackson won the 4x400m relay after clocking in at 3:42.67. The Blue Tigers also posted the relay's third-quickest time, with the foursome of Thomas, George, Maria Diamond and Shaneal Clarke Giddings timing in at 3:53.32.

Lincoln's other victory came in the 800m, as Britney Brown had the winning time of 2:17.06. Clarke Giddings (2:17.08) was the runner-up while Diamond (2:18.16) finished in fourth. In the 60m hurdles, Anderson timed in at 8.68 to take second while Douglas (9.27) placed eighth and Shanette Allison (9.53) came in 10th. Meanwhile, in the 400m, Thomas (56.49) took second, Brooks (58.33) came in fourth, Namibia Clavier (58.60) finished in fifth and Palmer (1:02.10) checked in at ninth.

Brittania Ingram placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 11.22m and Zoria Shield claimed ninth in the shot put with a mark of 9.28m. Ingram also posted a fourth place result in the long jump with a leap of 5.39m. In the high jump, meanwhile, Nehlia Mills (1.63m) and Cohen (1.53m) respectively took fourth and fifth.

The Blue Tigers travel to Lincoln, Neb. on Friday (Dec. 13) to compete in the Nebraska Early Bird, hosted by the University of Nebraska.
