JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Lincoln's women's and men's outdoor track & field teams combined to earn 18 All-American awards from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Five members of the LU women's program earned All-American recognition, including
Shevanae Thomas and
Shantae George, who each earned three USTFCCCA All-American awards. Thomas and George were both members of Lincoln's 4x400m relay squad, which won the national title. Thomas additionally was named a first team All-American in the 400m dash and a second team All-American in the 400m hurdles. George, meanwhile, received first team All-American accolades in the 200m and second team honors in the 100m.
Shaneal Clarke Giddings and
Britney Brown rounded out the Blue Tigers recognized as first team All-Americans for winning the 4x400m relay. Clarke Giddings also earned first team All-American status in the 800m while
Aaliyannah Anderson was tabbed a second team All-American in the 100m hurdles.
All four members of the Lincoln men's 4x400m relay team earned first team All-American awards: Clinton Laguerre,
Reuben Nichols,
Sharim Hamilton and Donovon Bruce. Hamilton and Laguerre both were named first team All-Americans in the 400m hurdles while
Wesley Tyndall earned first team status in the long jump. Nichols closed out LU's honorees by earning second team All-American honors in the 400m dash.
To earn first team All-American accolades, an athlete must finish between first and eighth in an event at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championship meet. Second team All-American status is conferred on athletes who place between ninth and 12th.
