Final Results
COLUMBUS, Ohio -
Maria Diamond won the 400m hurdles, highlighting the Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team's performance against a field largely populated by NCAA Division I competition at the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by The Ohio State University on Friday and Saturday (April 21-22).
Diamond took the 400m hurdles in 57.88 and later teamed with
Chrissani May,
Shantae George and
Shevanae Thomas to finish as the runner-up in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:46.28. Also competing in the relay was the foursome of
Denita Jackson,
Nattesha Palmer,
Abigail Brooks and
Nehlia Mills, which timed in at 3:54.38 to claim sixth place.
Sophia Myers (13.85) and
Shanette Allison (14.16) respectively placed third and fifth in the 100m hurdles, and the team of
Hughasia Fyffe,
Monae Carey,
Danneika Lyn and
Jovanna Gustave finished as the runner-up in the 4x100m relay, clocking in at 45.13.
Shenese Walker timed in at 11.68 to check in at fourth in the 100m dash, while Gustave claimed ninth in 12.02.
In the 400m dash, George placed fifth, clocking in at 55.89, and Jackson came in ninth, posting a time of 56.73. Rounding out the top performances for the Blue Tigers was
Annalisa Barclay, who closed out the top-three of the triple jump with a distance of 12.38m.
Two more meets at NCAA Division I schools await the Blue Tigers next week, as LU will split time at both the Drake Relays (April 28-29), hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Rock Chalk Classic (April 29), hosted in Lawrence, Kan. by the University of Kansas.
