Blue Tiger Women No. 10, Men No. 18 in the Nation


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team is ranked No. 10 in the country while the Blue Tiger men are No. 18 in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II ratings, released on Tuesday (Feb. 7).

The LU women received 65.22 points to round out the national top-10. Minnesota State leads the ratings with 209.61 points, and is followed in the top-five by Adams State (189.11 points), Grand Valley State (184.66), and fellow MIAA programs Northwest Missouri (138.98) and Pittsburg State (108.67). Two other MIAA programs appear in the national top-25: No. 11 Central Missouri (63.11) and No. 22 Missouri Southern (31.36).

The Lincoln men are ranked No. 18 after garnering 44.97 points. The men's ratings are led by Pittsburg State with 233.33 points, with Adams State (187.05), West Texas A&M (137.56), Grand Valley State (108.91) and Mississippi College (84.60) rounding out the top-five. Missouri Southern is ranked No. 6 after collecting 83.07, and Central Missouri is No. 11 with 61.50 points.The two other MIAA programs mentioned in the top-25 are No. 16 Fort Hays State (52.75) and No. 24 Nebraska Kearney (37.13).

Both Blue Tiger track & field programs will be in Pittsburg, Kan. next weekend (Feb. 10-11) to compete at the 8th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic.
