LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team posted 11 top-five finishes at the Jayhawk Classic, hosted by the University of Kansas on Friday (Jan. 27).
Maria Diamond was the runner-up of the afternoon session of the 600m, clocking in at 1:33.78, and
Shevanae Thomas placed fifth in that event in 1:37.07. In the morning session,
Jameaka Mannings clocked in at 1:42.44 to take eighth.
Denita Jackson timed in at 25.70 to place third in the afternoon 200m, while
Jovanna Gustave (27.08) and
Monae Carey (27.40) respectively came in fifth and sixth. In the morning 200m race,
Nattesha Palmer (26.81) claimed fourth and
Nehlia Mills (27.15) finished in seventh.
The 4x400m relay team of Mannings, Mills, Palmer and Jackson checked in at third with a time of 4:03.61, and Palmer had a fifth-place finish in the 400m, timing in at 1:02.80. In the 60m, Gustave (7.67) placed third, Carey (7.73) took fifth and
Hughasia Fyffe (7.74) came in sixth. In the field events,
Annalisa Barclay placed fourth in both the long jump (5.44m) and the triple jump (11.37m).
Up next for the Blue Tigers is the Bearcat Invite, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4).
