LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team opened its 2022-23 campaign with six victories at the Bob Timmons Challenge, hosted by the University of Kansas on Saturday (Dec. 3).
Annalisa Barclay swept the triple jump (11.92m) and the long jump (5.59m). In the latter event,
Dayshanae Hall claimed fourth (5.18m) and
Sophia Myers checked in at fifth (5.16m). Shamar-Kaye Fable rounded out LU with an eighth-place showing.
Maria Diamond was the victor of the 600-yard after timing in at 1:25.65 while
Chrissani May (1:27.75) came in third and
Jameaka Mannings (1:33.22) placed seventh.
Shantae George was the champion of the 400m with a time of 58.02, and
Denita Jackson (1:01.22),
Nattesha Palmer (1:01.23) and
Nehlia Mills (1:02.28) respectively finished fifth through seventh.
Shenese Walker won the 60m dash in 7.44, and George (7.73) claimed fourth while
Jovanna Gustave (7.77) and
Monae Carey (7.81) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. LU's other victory was in the 4x400m relay, as the foursome of George, May, Diamond and Walker posted the winning time of 3:54.28. The team of Mannings, Jackson, Palmer and Mills took seventh with a time of 4:05.28.
In the 60m hurdles, Myers came in second in 8.69, and
Shanette Allison finished in third in 8.74.
Ray-Donna Lee (9.20) took seventh, and
Vivian Akunna (9.34) came in ninth. Gustave was the runner-up of the 200m after timing in at 25.31, and Carey (25.88) placed fourth while Jackson (25.93) took fifth.
Up next for the Blue Tigers is the Crimson & Golf Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. on Dec. 10.
