MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team broke two records and won seven events at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University on Saturday (Dec. 10).
Shenese Walker swept both the 60m (7.37) and the 200m (24.37), with her winning time in the latter event becoming a new facility record.
Annalisa Barclay also broke a record on Saturday, winning the triple jump with a meet record distance of 11.95m. Barclay also won the long jump with a leap of 5.57m, and Shamar-Kaye Fable finished fifth in that event with a distance of 4.97m.
Sophia Myers was the victor of the indoor pentathlon with 3,564 points, and the foursome of
Shevanae Thomas,
Chrissani May,
Maria Diamond and Myers won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:48.31. In the 60m hurdles, Myers claimed her third victory of the meet, winning in 8.51.
In the 60m,
Jovanna Gustave was the runner-up in 7.52, and
Monae Carey claimed fourth in 7.57. In the 200m, Gustave (25.02) took fourth, Carey (25.32) came in sixth and
Denita Jackson (25.68) checked in at eighth. Rounding out LU's performances in the 60m hurdles were
Shanette Allison, who finished in second in 8.64;
Vivian Akunna, who placed fourth in 9.02; and
Ray-Donna Lee, who clocked in at 9.31 to check in at sixth.
May timed in at 2:19.97 to take third in the 800m, and Thomas clocked in at 1:28.30 to come in fifth in the 600-yard. In the 400m, LU posted six of the top-10 results, led by Diamond's time of 55.87, good for second plac.e
Shantae George (56.08) finished in third and Jackson (59.40) closed the top-five.
Nattesha Palmer (1:00.66),
Nehlia Mills (1:01.02) and
Jameaka Mannings (1:02.00) respectively finished eighth through 10th.
