PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team scored 79 points to take third at the Wendy's/PSU MIAA Challenge, hosted by Pittsburg State University on Saturday (Jan. 30).
Chrissani May had a fantastic meet, winning the 800m with a time of 2:10.93 that currently leads NCAA Division II. She later teamed with Kimone Campbell,
Maria Diamond and
Kelly-Ann Beckford to win the 4x400m relay in 3:48.93, which is currently the nation's second-quickest time.
Beckford was the runner-up in the 800m, timing in at 2:11.24, a provisional-qualifying mark that ranks second in NCAA Division II this season. Campbell, meanwhile, took third in the 800m with a time of 2:15.43. In the 4x400m relay, Lincoln's second team of
Jameaka Mannings,
Rebecca Bernadin,
Melissa Tyme and
Aliyah George finished in third place, clocking in at 4:02.44.
Bernadin placed third in the mile (5:26.63), while Tyme claimed fifth (5:43.09) in that event. Bernadin also was the runner-up of the 600-yard run with a time of 1:30.98 while Mannings claimed third in 1:31.19.
Diamond took third (57.29) and George placed fifth (59.33) in the 400m, while
Danneika Lyn took third (7.90) in the 60m. In the 200m, meanwhile, George (26.08) came in fifth and Lyn (26.44) finished in eighth. The other notable result of the meet for LU came in the triple jump, as Wedjie Atis recorded a distance of 10.44m to take ninth.
The Blue Tigers will travel to Maryville, Mo. next weekend to compete in the Bearcat Open, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 5-6).
