JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Thursday (July 16) that 13 Lincoln student-athletes have been named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
Furthermore, both the LU men's track & field team and the Lincoln women's track & field team earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team awards by virtue of having cumulative grade point averages higher than 3.0. The Lincoln men currently have a team GPA of 3.009 while the Blue Tiger women boast a team GPA of 3.55.
Nine members of the Lincoln women's track & field team were tabbed as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes, tying LU for the third-most honorees of any NCAA Division II program. The following Blue Tigers were recognized:
Vivian Akunna, Kelly-Ann Beckford,
Rusheda Blake,
Kissi-Ann Brown,
Segale Brown, Kimone Campbell, Chrissani May,
Christine Moss and
Melissa Tyme.
Four members of the LU men's track & field team also were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes:
Ryan Brown,
Kizan David,
Javan Gray and
Brandon Heath.
To qualify for the All-Academic Athlete honor, an athlete must post a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher and qualify either provisionally or automatically for the NCAA Division II Indoor or Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
