ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lincoln men's outdoor track & field team scored 131 points and won six events to finish in second place at the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by Lewis University on Friday and Saturday (May 2-3).
The foursome of
Donovan Bruce,
Sharim Hamilton, Clinton Laguerre and
Reuben Nichols won the 4x400m relay in 3:13.17 while, in the 200m, Tajai Duffus (21.20) and Nichols (21.57) respectively came in first and second. The Blue Tigers took second in the 4x100m relay, with the team of
Wesley Tyndall,
Ryan Jackson, Duffus and Nichols clocking in at 41.34.
In the field events,
Malik Drummond won the triple jump with a mark of 15.37m, and
Dejone Raymond came in sixth in that event with a distance of 14.20m. Raymond also took second in the high jump with a mark of 2.02m. In the long jump, Tyndall (7.30m) finished in third,
Derick Robinson (7.05m) placed seventh and Drummond (6.84m) closed out the top-10.
Duffus was the victor of the 100m dash, clocking in at 10.44, and
Joshua Dottin was the runner-up of the 110m hurdles after turning in a time of 14.43. In the 400m hurdles, Hamilson posted the winning time of 52.98 and Laguerre (53.94) finished in third while Dottin (54.49) placed fifth.
The most dominant event of the championship meet for Lincoln was the 400m dash, as four Blue Tigers finished among the top-five. Laguerre won the race, timing in at 47.02. Nichols (47.21) and Hamilton (47.29) came in second and third, respectively. Bruce, meanwhile, ended the race in fifth place after turning in a time of 47.66.
The Blue Tigers will now wait to see how many entries they will have in the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which will be held in Pueblo, Colo. on May 22-24.
