BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Lincoln men's outdoor track & field team won four events and scored 106.5 points to take third place at the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Southwest Baptist University from Thursday through Saturday (March 26-28).
Four Blue Tigers finished among the top-10 in the long jump, led by Dimetri Browne, who won the event with a leap of 7.42m.
Melon Lowenfield (7.17m) finished in third,
Janoe Richards (6.91m) took sixth and
Derick Robinson (6.68m) came in 10th. In the triple jump,
Malik Drummond posted the winning distance of 15.00m while
David Macklin took seventh at 13.21m. Rounding out LU's best performances in the field events was
Dejone Raymond, who placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.85m.
The 4x100m relay team of
Tajai Duffus,
Dimitri Beckford,
Dervin Walker and
Rosean Smith won with a time of 40.61. Lincoln's other victory came in the 110m hurdles, where
Joshua Dottin posted the winning time of 14.29 and
Rondino Dean, Jr. had the fifth-quickest mark of 14.80.
Five Blue Tigers finished among the top-eight in the 200m. Duffus (21.21),
Keano Charles (21.35) and Walker (21.51) respectively placed second through fourth. Beckford (21.59) checked in at sixth and Browne (21.68) claimed eighth. Dottin took sixth place in the 400m hurdles after timing in at 54.28.
Franklyn Tayloe, meanwhile, clocked in at 1:56.35 to capture fourth place in the 800m.
Charles was the runner-up of the 400m with a time of 48.43.
Donovan Bruce (49.85) and
Ryan Jackson (49.96) respectively took sixth and seventh in that event. Closing out the top finishes for Lincoln was Namarius Warren, whose time of 10.82 was good for fifth in the 100m dash.
Lincoln's next scheduled meet is the Arkansas Spring Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. on Saturday, April 11.
