LAWRENCE, Kan. - Lincoln's men's and women's outdoor track & field teams combined to win six events and post 13 total top-five finishes at the Kansas Relays, hosted by the University of Kansas.
The team of
Wesley Tyndall, Tajai Duffus,
Reuben Nichols and
Ryan Jackson won the men's 4x100m relay in 40.53 while the foursome of Clinton Laguerre, Nichols,
Sharim Hamilton and
Donovan Bruce took second in the men's 4x400m relay in 3:10.05. Hamilton (52.47) and Laguerre (52.80) respectively took first and second in the 400m hurdles.
Emmanuel Rwotomiya claimed second in the 400m dash, timing in at 47.28, and Duffus (21.26) finished third in the 200m dash.
The squad of
Denita Jackson,
Shantae George,
Monae Carey and
Shevanae Thomas won the women's 4x100m relay in 46.40.
Britney Brown won the seeded 800m in 2:17.01 and
Shaneal Clarke Giddings won the unseeded 800m in 2:13.28. George, meanwhile, clocked in at 11.50 to win the 100m dash.
Hannah Fatade had Lincoln's other victory, as she was the champion of the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:26.68.
Odeshia Nanton (1:00.13) was the runner-up of the 400m hurdles and Clarke Giddings (4:52.05) checked in at fourth in the 1500m.
Abigail Brooks finished in sixth in the 400m dash after posting a time of 56.72.
Up next for both Blue Tiger track & field teams is the Drake Relays, hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa this Thursday through Saturday (April 24-26).
