WICHITA, Kan. - Lincoln's women's and men's outdoor track & field teams combined to win four events against NCAA Division I competition at the KT Woodman Classic, hosted by Wichita State University on Friday and Saturday (April 11-12).
The Blue Tiger women swept both relay events, with the team of
Denita Jackson,
Shantae George,
Aaliyannah Anderson and
Shevanae Thomas winning the 4x100m race in 46.79. In the 4,x400m relay, the foursome of Thomas,
Abigail Brooks,
Britney Brown and Shneal Clarke Giddings won with a time of 3:43.09.
George placed second in the 200m dash (23.74) and third in the 100m dash (11.62) while Anderson took fourth in the 100m hurdles after timing in at 14.14. Clarke Giddings was the victor of the 800m, finishing in 2:09.75, and Brown placed eighth after posting a time of 2:15.02.
In the 400m dash, Clarke Giddings was the runner-up, clocking in at 55.16, and Brooks finished in ninth with a time of 57.65.
Odeshia Nanton rounded out Lincoln's top-10 track results by placing 10th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.06.
In the field events,
Nehlia Mills tied for second in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m.
Brittania Ingram, meanwhile, claimed fourth in the triple jump (12.04m) and 10th in the long jump (5.40m).
The other win of the weekend was by the LU men's 4x100m relay squad, as the team of
Reuben Nichols,
Dervin Walker, Tajai Duffus and
Leondre Francis posted the event's quickest time of 40.68.
Wesley Tyndall was the runner-up of the long jump, recording a leap of 7.51m, and
Malik Drummond was the runner-up of the triple jump with a distance of 15.10m.
Sharim Hamilton took second in the 400m hurdles, timing in at 52.05, and
Joshua Dottin placed seventh in that event with a time of 54.85. Dottin also took seventh in the 110m hurdles, clocking in at 14.39. Francis finished in sixth in both the 200m (20.93) and the 400m (48.25). In the former event, Nichols claimed fifth after clocking in at 20.80.
Both Blue Tiger track & field squads will be in Lawrence, Kan. this week for the Kansas Relays, hosted by the University of Kansas on April 17-19.
