INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Lincoln men's track & field team won LU's first-ever GLVC title, scoring 129 points to take first place at the GLVC Indoor Championships on March 1-2. The Blue Tigers, in their first season as a member of the GLVC, won seven events and broke one league record.
Malik Drummond broke the GLVC record in the triple jump, winning with a distance of 15.43m.
Wesley Tyndall captured first place in the long jump with a leap of 7.50m while
Derick Robinson took third with a mark of 7.31m. In the high jump,
Dejone Raymond placed sixth with a height of 2.02m.
Joshua Dottin won the 60m hurdles in 8.19 and the foursome of
Sharim Hamilton, Clinton Laguerre,
Kewani Campbell and
Emmanuel Rwotomiya won with a time of 3:17.70. Campbell also had a third-place showing in the 800m, timing in at 1:53.58. In the 60m dash,
Dimitri Beckford (6.82) and Tajai Duffus (6.89) respectively took first and second in the 60m dash.
Rwotomiya won the 400m, an event dominated by the Blue Tigers as five LU athletes finished among the top-eight. Rwotomiya won in 47.99,
Leondre Francis was the runner-up with a time of 48.38 and
Reuben Nichols rounded out the top-three with a time of 48.71. Hamilton came in fifth, clocking in at 49.00, and
Donovan Bruce claimed eighth in 53.77. Rwotomiya also won the 200m, clocking in at 21.61, while Francis (21.63) placed second, Nichols (21.91) came in third and Beckford (22.07) placed sixth.
Lincoln will now wait to see how many entries it will have into the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held in Indianapolis on March 13-15.
