Lincoln Wins Five Events Between Two Meets


Bearcat Invite Results | Jim Green Invitational Results
MARYVILLE, Mo. & JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Lincoln men's track & field team split time between two meets this weekend, with the results being five victories and 11 top-five finishes. Half of the Blue Tigers competed at the Bearcat Invite, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 7-8), while the rest competed in the Jim Green Invitational, hosted by Illinois College on Saturday (Feb. 8).

Three of LU's wins came at the Bearcat Invite, including in the 4x400m relay, where the foursome of Sharim Hamilton, Clinton Laguerre, Reuben Nichols and Emmanuel Rwotomiya turned in the race's fastest time of 3:10.67. In the long jump, Wesley Tyndall had the winning distance of 7.06m while Derick Robinson came in fourth with a leap of 6.77m. Laguerre had Lincoln's other win, taking first in the 400m open in 47.84 while Nichols too second in that event (47.99).

In the invite-only 200m, Dimitri Beckford took fifth, timing in at 21.89. Meanwhile, in the invite-only 400m, Rwotomiya clocked in at 48.03 to capture fifth place. Beckford additionally placed seventh in the 60m with a time of 6.82 while Jamar Treasure came in eighth in the 200m open after clocking in at 22.10. Rounding out Lincoln's performance at the Bearcat Invite was Joshua Dottin, who finished the 60m hurdles in 8.19, good for fourth place.

At the Jim Green Invitational, Malik Drummond was the winner of the long jump after a leap of 7.02m. LU's other win of the weekend came in the 60m dash, where Tajai Duffus had the fastest time of 6.90. Dejone Raymond also competed in the 60m, taking eighth with a time of 7.27.

The foursome of Daujaughn Murray, Laron Jones, Nathan Allen and Ryan Jackson finished as the runners-up in the 4x400m relay after timing in at 3:32.37. In the triple jump, Raymond (14.12m) was the runner-up while David Macklin (12.77m) came in 10th. In the 200m, Duffus (23.33) finished in eighth and Jackson (23.38) rounded out the top-10.

Lincoln will compete in its final regular season meet of 2024-25 next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 14-15) when the Blue Tigers travel to Pittsburg, Kan. to take part in the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State University.
