PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Lincoln women's and men's indoor track & field teams ended their regular seasons at the Russ Jewett Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 14-15).
Shaneal Clarke Giddings represented the LU women with a second-place showing in the 800m, as she timed in at 2:10.92.
Maria Diamond placed fifth in that event with a time of 2:13.65.
Brittania Ingram came in third in the triple jump with a distance of 11.83m and, in the 400m open,
Namibia Clavier (57.14) took eighth while
Abigail Brooks (57.21) checked in at 11th.
Shevanae Thomas won the invite-only 400m with a time of 54.84 and came in sixth in the 200m after clocking in at 24.66.
Shantae George placed third in the latter event, timing in at 24.30, and
Denita Jackson finished the 200m in 11th at 25.58. George, Brooks, Jackson and Clavier teamed up to place fourth in the 4x400m after posting a time of 3:49.37. Meanwhile, in the distance medley, Clarke Giddings, Brooks, Diamond and Hannah Fatade rounded out the top-five with a mark of 12:19.38.
Emmanuel Rwotomiyo highlighted the Lincoln men with a runner-up finish in the invite-only 400m, finishing the race in 46.98, while
Reuben Nichols (47.86) took eighth and
Leondre Francis (47.87) came in ninth.
Malik Drummond closed out the top-three of the triple jump with a distance of 14.95m while
Dejone Raymond finished 10th in the high jump with a height of 1.93m.Â
Nichols timed in at 21.84 to take fourth in the invite-only 200m while, in the open version of the 200m,
Dimitri Beckford (21.77) and Rwotomiya (21.79) respectively placed eighth and ninth.
Donovan Bruce (49.04) and
Sharim Hamilton (49.25) placed eighth and 11th, respectively, in the 400m open.
Kewani Campbell posted a time of 1:52.05 in the 800m, good for 11th. In the 4x400m relay, the team of Francis, Clinton Laguerre, Bruce and Hamilton came in sixth after timing in at 3:13.51.
Both Blue Tiger track & field teams head to Indianapolis, Ind. in two weeks for the GLVC Indoor Championships on March 1-2.
