INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Blue Tigers earned three of the GLVC's four track & field athlete of the week awards, the league office announced on Tuesday (Dec. 16).
Malik Drummond was tabbed the GLVC Men's Field Athlete of the Week while
Brandon Harris was selected as the GLVC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Anderson, meanwhile, took home the GLVC Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor. All three were recognized after excellent performances by the Lincoln men's and women's indoor track & field teams at the Indiana Early Bird on Friday (Dec. 12).
Drummond won the triple jump with a provisional-qualifying distance of 14.79m at the Indiana Early Bird. He also took eighth in the long jump with a leap of 6.72m.
Harris beat four NCAA Division I athletes to win the 60m hurdles in 7.98, a provisional-qualifying time that leads the GLVC and ranks sixth in NCAA Division II. He also teamed with
Franklyn Tayloe,
Donovan Bruce and
Keano Charles to take third in the 4x400m relay in 3:15.55.
Anderson won the 60m hurdles in 8.48, the fastest time by a GLVC athlete this year as well as the sixth-quickest in Division II. She also came in third in the 200m, timing in at 24.93. In the 4x400m relay, Anderson teamed with
Odeshia Nanton,
Quana Walker and
Maria Diamond to take fifth in 3:53.73, the fastest time of the meet by a non-Division I squad.
This is the first athlete of the week honor for all three Blue Tigers.
Both LU track & field programs are off until Jan. 16, when the Blue Tigers travel north to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Show Me Showdown, hosted by the University of Missouri.
