Blue Tigers Enter GLVC Semifinals Ranked No. 15 in the Nation

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's soccer team is ranked No. 15 in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches Division II poll heading into its GLVC Championship semifinal match against McKendree on Thursday night (Nov. 13). Lincoln and McKendree play at Creve Coeur Soccer Field in St. Louis, Mo. at 7:00 p.m. CST.

The Blue Tigers are undefeated on the season, owning an 11-0-6 record after beating Missouri S&T, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the GLVC Championship on Sunday (Nov. 9). Joseph Lozano scored three goals to key LU to that victory and was rewarded with the honor of D2CIDA National Player of the Week. Thursday marks the second meeting this year between the Blue Tigers and the Bearcats; the first contest, held in Lebanon, Ill. on Oct. 5, ended in a 1-1 draw.

Kevon Maitland, the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year and an all-conference first team selection, leads Lincoln with 20 points on the year after scoring eight goals and tallying four assists. Christopher Hull earned two spots on the All-GLVC second team, making the list as both a forward and a midfielder after scoring four goals and notching four assists. Hadri Lopez led LU with five assists and added three goals while Lozano and Santiago Brisco each have four goals on the season.

Vincent Osei was named the All-GLVC second team goalkeeper after making 65 saves and having a role in six shutouts during the season. Adam Griffiths also made the All-GLVC second team as a defender. Lincoln's defense allowed an average of just one goal per match this season. LU has scored 38 goals on the year, more than double the 17 it has allowed.

McKendree is 9-4-5 on the season as well as 5-0-1 over its last six matches. The Bearcats punched their ticket to the GLVC semifinals with a 3-0 home win over Drury. Adam Reiniger leads McKendree with six goals, Fredrik Christian Rugland Thulin is next with five, and Henri Poll and Morgan Dance each have three. In the net, Toby Lewis has allowed 10 goals in 16 starts and has 37 saves.

If the Blue Tigers beat McKendree on Thursday, they will advance to the championship match of the GLVC tournament, where they will play the winner of the semifinal contest between Rockhurst and Maryville. That match is scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 15) at 12:00 p.m. CST.
