LU Men Win Nine Events at the Lincoln Open

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Blue Tiger men's track & field team dominated the Lincoln Open, winning nine events in front of their home crowd on Saturday (April 6).

Four Blue Tigers finished among the top-five in the 200m, led by Emmanuel Rwotomiya, who posted the winning time of 21.84. Dimitri Beckford (22.35), Dimetri Browne (22.39) and DauJaughn Murray (22.64) respectively finished third through fifth. In the 100m dash, Davian Clarke won in 10.54, Beckford took second in 10.61 and Dervin Walker claimed third in 10.68.

Joshua Dottin won the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.09 and took third in the 400m hurdles at 56.82. In the latter event, Sharim Hamilton was the winner, timing in at 52.79, while Shanthamoi Brown was the runner-up with a time of 54.98. The team of Beckford, Browne, Walker and Jamar Treasure clocked in at 40.96 to win the 4x100m relay.

LU also won the 4x400m relay, as the foursome of Hamilton, Leondre Francis, Brown and Rwotomiya timed in at 3:12.28. Lincoln also placed second in that event, with the team of Murray, Donovan Bruce, Kewani Campbell and Beckford finishing in 3:12.37. Francis, meanwhile, won the 400m dash in 48.30 while Rwotomiya (48.44) placed second, Bruce (49.07) took third and Murray (49.74) came in fifth. Campbell (1:54.77) and Nathan Allen (2:12.45) respectively finished in second and eighth to round out LU's performance in the track events.

In the field events, Browne was the winner of the long jump with a leap of 7.25m while Melon Lowenfield (7.05m) was the runner-up and Malik Drummond (6.39) placed fourth. Drummond was the victor of the triple jump, posting a mark of 14.60m, while Dejone Raymond (12.89m) came in sixth and Lowenfield (12.65m) finished in seventh. Raymond also posted a second-place result in the high jump, notching a mark of 1.97m.

Up next for the Blue Tigers is the John Jacobs Invitational, hosted by the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. on Friday and Saturday (April 12-13).
