FAYETTE, Mo. - The Lincoln men's outdoor track & field team won four events at its season opener, the Central Methodist University Invitational, on Saturday (March 30).
Wesley Tyndall (7.33m),
Melon Lowenfield (7.31m) and Dimetri Browne (7.19m) swept the top-three of the long jump, and Lowenfield (13.84m) and
Malik Drummond (13.68m) respectively took second and fourth in the triple jump. In the high jump,
Dejone Raymond was the runner-up with a height of 2.02m.
The team of
Sharim Hamilton,
Leondre Francis,
Shanthamoi Brown and
Emmanuel Rwotomiya won the 4x400m relay in 3:14.78 while the foursome of
Donovan Bruce, Daujaughn Murray, Joshua Dottin and
Kewani Campbell claimed third in 3:22.80. In the 4x100m relay, the squad of
Dimitri Beckford,
Antwaan Walker, Browne and
Jamar Treasure clocked in at 41.05 to finish as the runner-up.
Campbell was the champion of the 800m with a time of 1:54.08 and Hamilton won the the 400m hurdles in 52.95, while Brown (55.55) and Dottin (56.62) respectively finished in second and fifth in the latter event. Dottin also posted a third-place finish in the 110m hurdles, timing in at 15.26.
In the 400m dash, Francis (47.59) came in second, Rwotomiya (47.77) placed third, Bruce (49.48) came in fifth and Murray (49.75) finished in sixth. Rwotomiya (21.69), Treasure (21.87) and
Dervin Walker (21.95) respectively took third, fifth and seventh in the 200m. In the 100m,
Dervin Walker (10.721) was the runner-up, Beckford (10.727) claimed third, Treasure (10.76) checked in at fourth and Lowenfield (11.03) rounded out the top-10.
The Blue Tigers will continue the outdoor season next Saturday (April 6) by hosting the Lincoln Open at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
