LINCOLN, Neb. - Lincoln's men's and women's indoor track & field teams closed the 2023-24 regular season by winning six events at the Nebraska Tune-Up, hosted by the University of Nebraska.
The LU men had four of those victories, including in the triple jump, where
Malik Drummond posted the winning distance of 13.99m.
Melon Lowenfield (6.76m) and Dimetri Browne (6.62m) respectively came in third and fourth in the long jump, and
Dejone Raymond (1.87m) claimed 10th in the high jump.
The foursome of
Sharim Hamilton,
Reuben Nichols,
Shanthamoi Brown and
Leondre Francis won the 4x400m relay, timing in at 3:15.76.
Dimitri Beckford won the 200m with a time of 22.16, with
Antwaan Walker taking seventh in 22.54. In the 60m dash, Beckford (6.92) placed fourth and Walker (6.95) took seventh.
The other victory for the Blue Tiger men came in the 400m, where four LU runners finished among the top-five. Nichols had the winning time of 48.53, Francis (49.50) checked in at third, Hamilton (49.64) came in fourth and Brown rounded out the top-five. Meanwhile, in the 60m hurdles, Joshua Dottin clocked in at 8.24 to finish in sixth place.
The LU women won two events, with
Annalisa Barclay claiming the title in the triple jump with a mark of 12.02m. The other victory was in the 4x400m relay, as the team of
Shantae George,
Shaneal Clarke Giddings,
Shevanae Thomas and
Denita Jackson won the race in 3:47.51.Â
Jovanna Gustave (7.75) and Aaliyannah Anderson (7.90) respectively took fourth and ninth in the 60m dash, and
Shanette Allison finished the 60m hurdles in 9.16, good for eighth place. In the 400m, Clarke Giddings (56.81) came in fourth and Jackson (58.06) checked in at seventh. George (25.06) took eighth and Thomas (25.41) placed 10th in the 200m.
Ellis Cohen, meanwhile, came in ninth in the high jump at 1.55m.
Both Blue Tiger track & field teams head to Topeka, Kan. to compete in the 2024 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Washburn University next Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 24-25).
