LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team opened its 2024-25 season this past weekend, winning three events against NCAA Division I competition at the Bob Timmons Challenge, hosted by the University of Kansas on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 6-7).
Reuben NIchols won the 400m in 48.55 while
Emmanuel Rwotomiya (48.60) came in second and
Sharim Hamilton (50.24) finished in third. LU dominated the 200m, with Dimitri Browne (21.95), Nichols (22.04), Rwotomiya (22.05),
Dervin Walker (22.59),
Ryan Jackson (22.98) and
LaRon Jones (23.11) sweeping the top-six.
Christopher Allen (24.13) took eighth and Carlos Samuel, Jr. (24.31) placed ninth.
Wesley Tyndall had Lincoln's other victory, winning the long jump with a leap of 7.28m.
Dimetre Browne (6.97m) and
Derick Robinson (6.93m) respectively captured third and fourth in that event.
Dejone Raymond finished fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.90m, and Malik Drummon (14.46m) and
David Macklin (12.81m) claimed third and ninth, respectively, in the triple jump.
Joshua Dottin was the runner-up of the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 8.29, and Beckford finished in fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.81. Browne placed sixth in the latter event, timing in at 6.88. In 600-yard,
Donovan Bruce (1:14.36) and
DauJaughn Murray (1:14.79) took second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, in the 800m, Ryan Hayes (2:01.96) finished in fifth while
Nathan Allen (2:05.69) came in eighth.
The Blue Tigers also had two of the five-quickest times in the 4x400m relay. The foursome of Hamilton, Nichols, Browne and Rwotomiya finished as the runners-up, clocking in at 3:14.36. The team of Dottin, Murray, Hayes and Bruce placed fifth, timing in at 3:25.69.
Lincoln heads to Lincoln, Neb. next Friday (Dec. 13) to compete in the Nebraska Early Bird, hosted by the University of Nebraska.
