LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team picked up three wins at the Nebraska Early Bird, hosted by the University of Nebraska on Friday (Dec. 13).
Emmanuel Rwotomiya was responsible for two of the wins, including in the 400m, as he posted the event's fastest time of 48.18.
Reuben Nichols took third in that event, finishing in 48.43, while
Sharim Hamilton (49.12) took fourth,
DauJaughn Murray (51.50) placed eighth and Ryan Hayes (53.25) came in ninth. Rwotomiya later teamed with Hamilton, Nichols and
Kewani Campbell to win the 4x400m relay in 3:15.73. The foursome of Murray, Hayes,
Donovan Bruce and
Joshua Dottin claimed sixth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:21.14.
Wesley Tyndall had LU's other victory, as he won the long jump with a leap of 7.04m. The Blue Tigers dominated that event, with
Melon Lowenfield (7.00m), Dimetri Browne (6.70m) and
Derick Robinson (6.50m) rounding out the top-four. Malik Drummon (6.14m),
David Macklin (6.09m) and
Jamir Hunt (5.75m) respectively placed seventh through eighth.
Dejone Raymond finished 10th in the high jump with a height of 1.93m while, in the triple jump, Drummond (13.61m) was the runner-up while Lowenfield (13.30m), Macklin (12.73m) and Hunt (12.37m) respectively placed fourth through sixth.
Seven of the top-10 results in the 200m were posted by Blue Tigers, led by
Dimitri Beckford, who was the runner-up after clocking in at 21.69. Rwotomiya (21.74) finished in third and Nichols (21.92) took fourth.
Dervin Walker (22.14),
Jamar Treasure (22.36),
LaRon Jones (22.73) and
Ryan Jackson (22.83) placed sixth through ninth, respectively. Campbell took fourth in the 800m, clocking in at 1:51.68 and Bruce placed eighth in that event with a mark of 2:02.23.
Beckford (6.90) and Browne (6.94) placed second and third, respectively, in the 60m dash, while Walker (7.02) placed sixth, Treasure (7.07) came in seventh and Robinson (7.08) finished in eighth. Rounding out Lincoln's success on Friday was Dottin, who clocked in at 8.41 to turn in a sixth-place showing in the 60m hurdles.
Lincoln will be off until Jan. 24, when the Blue Tigers resume the season in Pittsburg, Kan. at the Rumble in the Jungle Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University.
