JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's track & field team is in ninth after two days of the 2023 MIAA Outdoor Championships, hosted by LU on Friday and Saturday (May 5-6).
Lincoln has only competed in one final event at the championships, the men's long jump. Wesley Tyndall placed seventh in that event, posting a mark of 7.25m to score two points for the Blue Tigers.
Jamir Hunt and
Malik Drummond also competed in the long jump, tying for 14th with a distance of 6.03m.
The majority of the events on the track thus far have been preliminaries, and Lincoln will have three runners in the finals of the 400m hurdles.
Kewani Campbell recorded the quickest time of the preliminaries of 52.24, and
Troy Whyte (52.70) and
Shanthamoi Brown (52.73) respectively turned in the second- and third-fastest marks. Both Whyte (13.95) and
Rashane Bartlett (14.09) qualified to race in the finals of the 110m hurdles.
Lincoln will also have two runners in the finals of the 400m dash, as
Reuben Nichols (46.61) and
Leondre Francis (47.77) each finished among the top-eight in the preliminaries. Nichols will also race in the finals of the 200m after turning in a time of 20.99, and he will be joined in that event by
Shemar Fletcher, who clocked in at 21.13.
The final events of the 2023 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Sunday (May 7).
