EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Lincoln men's outdoor track & field team won two events and scored 92 points to take second place at the Cougar Classic, hosted by NCAA Division I Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville on Friday and Saturday (April 10-11).
Dimetre Browne was the champion of the long jump with a distance of 7.03m.
Melon Lowenfield and
Janoe Richards tied for second with marks of 6.95m.
Derick Robinson also did well in the long jump, placing fourth at 6.91m.
Dejone Raymond, meanwhile, won the high jump with a height of 1.98m.
The Blue Tigers also had a dominant performance in the triple jump.
Malik Drummond (15.22m) was the runner-up, Lowenfield (14.13m) claimed fourth, Raymond (14.08m) finished in fifth and
David Macklin (13.70m) took seventh.
Joshua Dottin finished third in the 400m hurdles (54.39) and second in the 110m hurdles (14.40) while, in the latter event, Rondino Dean (14.82) came in fourth. The 4x100m relay team of
Dervin Walker,
Tajai Duffus,
Dimitri Beckford and Browne checked in at second after timing in at 40.64. Namarius Warren finished ninth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.94. Rounding out the Blue Tigers was the 4x400m relay team consisting of
Donovan Bruce,
Ryan Jackson,
Keano Charles and Browne, which clocked in 3:13.50 to take second place.
The Blue Tigers also competed in the 4x100m relay at the UCM Kip and Kirk Outdoor Mule Relays, hosted by the University of Central Missouri on Friday. The team of Walker, Duffus, Browne and
Rosean Smith claimed third place after timing in at 40.93.
Up next for Lincoln is the Dewey Allgood Invitational, hosted by Missouri S&T University in Rolla, Mo. on Saturday (April 18).
