JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's and women's track & field teams open the 2023 outdoor season this weekend in Rolla, Mo. at the Miner Invitational, hosted by Missouri S&T.
The invitational will begin on Friday (March 24) with multi events and select field events. The majority of the events will take place on Saturday (March 25), with multi events resuming at 9:00 a.m. CT, field events starting at 11:00 a.m. CT and track events beginning at 12:00 p.m. CT.
The Lincoln men claimed sixth place at the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships and return eight All-Americans from that squad. The team of
Kewani Campbell,
Reuben Nichols,
Shanthamoi Brown and
Troy Whyte won the national title in the 4x400m relay, and all four athletes are back in 2023. Nichols also joined with returners
Imar Tomlinson,
Shemar Fletcher and
Jamar Treasure to take eighth in the 4x100m relay a year ago, while
Rashane Bartlett is back after taking fifth at nationals in the 110m hurdles.
The LU women took fifth at the 2022 national championships and have eight All-Americans back this season.
Chrissani May took fourth in the 400m last year and joined with
Maria Diamond and
Shevanae Thomas to finish as the national runners-up in the in the 4x400m relay. The foursome of
Shantae George, Thomas,
Hughasia Fyffe and
Monae Carey took fifth in the 4x100m relay, and
Shanette Allison was the national runner-up in the 100m hurdles. Diamond claimed All-American status in the 400m and
Annalisa Barclay earned second team All-American distinction in the triple jump.
