FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Racing against some of the biggest Division I track & field programs in the country, Lincoln's men's and women's team performed very well at the Arkansas Qualifier, hosted by the University of Arkansas on Friday (Feb. 17).
Facing athletes from USC, Ohio State, Arkansas and Washington State, among other DI programs,
Shenese Walker finished as the runner-up in the 60m after clocking in at 7.31. That time is currently the best in the MIAA and the third-quickest in Division II, as well as a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division II championships.Â
In the 60m hurdles,
Sophia Myers placed eighth in 8.58. Meanwhile, in the 400m,
Maria Diamond timed in at 56.48 to take 15th, and
Shevanae Thomas placed 18th in 57.11.
The Lincoln men also fared well, with
Reuben Nichols recording the highest finish among the Blue Tigers with a fourth-place showing in the 400m. Nichols clocked in at 47.58, while
Shanthamoi Brown (49.09) and
Troy Whyte (49.62) also competed for LU in that event. In the 4x400m relay, Lincoln came in sixth after timing in at 3:15.73.
Shemar Fletcher took sixth in the 60m (6.83) and seventh in the 200m (21.35), with the latter time ranking as the 10th-fastest in DII this season.
Kewani Campbell placed sixth in the 800m, timing in at 1:51.58, while
Rashane Bartlett clocked in at 7.96 to take seventh place.
