PITTSBURG, Kan. - Lincoln's men's and women's indoor track & field teams combined to break two records and win four events at the Crimson & Gold Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 8-9).
Reuben Nichols won the men's 400m with a meet-record time of 47.29 while four other Blue Tigers finished among the top-10, all with provisional-qualifying times.
Leondre Francis finished third in 47.34,
Emmanuel Rwotomiya came in sixth at 48.31,
Shanthamoi Brown timed in at 48.59 to take eighth and
Sharim Hamilton posted a time of 48.85 to check in at 10th.
Rwotomiya, Nichols, Francis and Brown combined to win the 4x400m relay in 3:11.01 while the team of Hamilton,
Kewani Campbell,
Donovan Bruce and
DauJaughn Murray took fourth with a time of 3:15.03. Nichols additionally had a runner-up finish in the 200m after clocking in at 21.36.
Wesley Tyndall won the long jump with a leap of 7.45m,
Dejone Raymond took sixth in the high jump (2.03m), and
Melon Lowenfield (13.76m) and
Malik Drummond (13.63m) respectively took ninth and 10th in the triple jump. Campbell, meanwhile, took seventh in the 800m with a time of 1:54.35.
The LU women also won the 4x400m relay, with the team of
Shantae George,
Odeshia Nanton, Shaneal Clarke-Giddings and
Shevanae Thomas posting a meet-record time of 3:43.14. George was the runner-up of the 200m, timing in at 24.24, and
Denita Jackson finished in 10th in that event after clocking in at 25.23.
Nanton (55.90) and Thomas (56.22) respectively came in fourth and sixth in the 400m, and Clarke-Giddings placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:12.52.
Shanette Allison was the runner-up of the 60m hurdles (8.58) and George finished in fourth in the 60m dash (7.51). In the high jump,
Nehlia Mills finished in eighth with a height of 1.60m.
Both Lincoln track & field teams will be off until Jan. 20, when the Blue Tigers will resume the season at the Coach Richard Alsup Open, hosted in Maryville, Mo. by Northwest Missouri State University.
