JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Lincoln senior jumper
Kizan David was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American first team on Wednesday (June 22). This marks the third time that David has achieved this honor, voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
A computer information systems major with a 3.9 grade point average, David was a key part of a Lincoln men's outdoor track & field that finished in sixth place at the NCAA Division II Championships. The St. Paul's, St. Kitts & Nevis native was the national runner-up in the long jump, and also qualified to compete in the triple jump and the 4x100m relay. David was the runner-up at the MIAA Championships in both the long jump and the 4x100m relay.
During the indoor season, David earned All-American honors in both the long jump and the triple jump after finishing third at the NCAA Championships in the former event and seventh in the latter. David additionally was selected all-region in both events, and earned All-MIAA distinction with a third-place finish in the long jump at the conference championship meet.
In addition to his many accomplishments as a jumper, David has excelled in the classroom during his time at Lincoln, where he is a member of the university's honor society. The 2021 USTFCCCA Indoor Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, David was also selected to the CoSIDA/Google Cloud All-American first team and the CoSIDA/Google Cloud All-District first team in both 2019 and 2020, and he is an eight-time recipient of the MIAA Scholar Athlete Award, which goes to student-athletes who achieve All-MIAA status and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. David has been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll eight times, and has received national recognition for his academic performance from the USTFCCCA on three occasions.
David was the 2021 MIAA Winter Male Student-Athlete of the Year and was a finalist for this year's Ken B. Jones Award, given to the top male and female student-athletes in the MIAA. Earlier this year, David was additionally voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team.
