ALLENDALE, Mich. -
Kizan David finished the first day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships as the national runner-up in the men's long jump, highlighting the performances of Lincoln's men's and women's track & field teams on Thursday (May 26).
David took second place with a leap of 7.89m, scoring eight points for the LU men. The Blue Tigers are currently tied for seventh place overall after the first day of the three-day meet.
LU had two finals qualifiers in the 400m hurdles, as
Troy Whyte clocked in at 51.31 and
Kewani Campbell turned in a time of 51.51.
Reuben Nichols qualified for the finals of the 400m with a time of 46.64. The 4x100m relay team of Whyte, Nichols,
Shemar Fletcher and
Jamar Treasure also qualified, posting a time of 40.07.
The Lincoln women also advanced to the finals in the 4x100m relay, as the foursome of
Shantae George,
Shanette Allison,
Monae Carey and Hughasia Fyffe finished the preliminaries in 46.03. In the individual events,
Maria Diamond qualified in the 400m hurdles after timing in at 58.13.
The second day of the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships is scheduled for Friday (May 27).
