Kelly-Ann Beckford won the women's 800m, highlighting Lincoln's men's and women's outdoor track & field teams' performance at the John Jacobs Invitational, hosted by the University of Oklahoma on Friday and Saturday (April 22-23).
Beckford beat a crowded 800m field full of Division I competition by clocking in at 2:06.71 for a first-place finish. Beckford also teamed with
Chrissani May,
Maria Diamond and
Shevanae Thomas to take second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:38.71.
Thomas took eighth in the 400m with a time of 55.99. In the 400m hurdles, Diamond was the runner-up, timing in at 58.66.
Jameaka Mannings claimed seventh, clocking in at 1:02.85.
Troy Whyte had the highest finish for the Lincoln men's team, as placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.76. Whyte was followed in the top-10 by teammates
Kewani Campbell (third, 52.48),
Shanthamoi Brown (fifth, 52.93) and
Rashane Bartlett (ninth, 54.23). Bartlett, meanwhile, took fourth in the 110m hurdles, timing in at 14.30.
The foursome of Campbell,
Reuben Nichols, Brown and Whyte claimed third in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:09.86. In the 4x100m relay, the team of Nichols,
Jamar Treasure, Dervin Walker and Whyte finished in 41.11 to take fourth. Nichols also posted a fifth-place result in the 400m, timing in at 47.28.
