NORMAL, Ill. - Lincoln's women's and men's outdoor track & field teams combined to win nine events at the Redbird Challenge, hosted by Illinois State University on Friday and Saturday (April 15-16). The LU women scored 109 points to finish second overall while the Lincoln men scored 77 points.
Shanette Allison won the 100m hurdles in 14.03, and
Ray-Donna Lee placed sixth in 16.40. The women's 4x400m relay team of
Jameaka Mannings,
Chrissani May,
Shevanae Thomas and
Shantae George won with a time of 3:47.22, while the 4x100m relay squad of
Monae Carey,
Shantae George, Hughasia Fyffe and Thomas claimed second in 46.27. Mannings, meanwhile, won the 400m hurdles after timing in at 1:03.80.
In the 200m,
Shantae George (24.94) and
Aliyah George (25.13) respectively placed first and second, while Carey (25.49) came in fifth and Denita Jackson (25.95) checked in at eighth. The Lincoln women's other victory came in the 800m, as
Kelly-Ann Beckford won in 2:09.78 while May took third in 2:11.41. In the 100m dash, Fyffe placed second in 11.83, and
Shantae George (11.89) and Carey (11.94) respectively came in fourth and fifth. Thomas took third in the 400m with a time of 55.47, while
Maria Diamond (56.78) took fifth and
Aliyah George (58.84) claimed seventh.
In the men's events,
Kizan David won the long jump with a leap of 7.09m, and placed fourth in the triple jump after posting a distance of 13.89m. The 4x400m relay team, consisting of
Reuben Nichols,
Shanthamoi Brown,
Kewani Campbell and
Troy Whyte, had the winning time of 3:13.92. In the 4x100m relay, meanwhile, the team of
Tasrico Bell, Dervin Walker,
Jamar Treasure and
Imar Tomlinson too fourth in 42.13.
Rashane Bartlett was victorious in the 110m hurdles after timing in at 14.27, and Nichols clocked in at 47.44 to win the 400m dash, while Whyte was the runner-up in 47.72. Lincoln also had three of the top-10 results in the 400m hurdles; Campbell (52.27) came in second, Brown (53.77) took third and Bartlett (58.18) finished in ninth.
