PITTSBURG, Kan. -
Kizan David took third place in the long jump, highlighting the Lincoln men's and women's track & field teams' performance on day one of the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships on Friday (March 11).
On his fourth attempt, David completed a leap of 7.69m to earn six points for the Blue Tiger men, placing them in a tie for 12th overall.
Reuben Nichols (47.45) and
Troy Whyte (47.53) each qualified for the finals of the 400m, and
Rashane Bartlett timed in at 7.95 to qualify for the finals of the 60m hurdles.
Nichols also represented LU in the 200m, where he just missed the cut for the finals, taking ninth in the preliminaries with a time of 21.46.
On the women's side,
Kelly-Ann Beckford turned in the fastest time in the preliminaries of the 800m, clocking in at 2:08.12.Â
In the 400m,
Maria Diamond finished the preliminaries in 55.98 to take 13th while
Shevanae Thomas clocked in at 57.07 to place 19th.
Shanette Allison, meanwhile, finished the prelims of the 60m hurdles in 8.73 to come in 15th.
The Division II indoor track & field championships will conclude on Saturday (March 12).
