Both Blue Tiger Track & Field Teams Re-Enter the National Top-25


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - After a strong showing at the Rock Chalk Classic last weekend (April 30-May 1), both of Lincoln's outdoor track & field teams have re-entered the national top-25. The LU women are ranked No. 19 in the country while the Blue Tiger men are rated No. 25 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Division II rankings, the latest of which were released on Tuesday (May 4).

The Lincoln women moved up 28 spots in the ratings to hold the No. 19 position with 61.75 points. Lincoln is ranked five spots ahead of fellow MIAA program Nebraska Kearney (No. 24, 55.89 points), while four other conference programs appear in the national rankings: No. 4 Missouri Southern (168.20), No. 11 Central Missouri (92.21), No. 12 Fort Hays State (85.01) and No. 15 Pittsburg State (70.70).

On the men's side, Lincoln is ranked No. 25 after collecting 47.79 points this week. The Blue Tigers are one of just four MIAA programs mentioned among the national top-25, joining No. 6 Pittsburg State (155.10), No. 8 Central Missouri (119.66) and No. 9 Missouri Southern (110.26).

The Blue Tigers will have the opportunity to test themselves against the other teams in the league this weekend at the MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kan. on Saturday and Sunday (May 8-9).
